Where Should I Park in Downtown Tucson?

Downtown parking can seem overwhelming. Tucson has a lot of different options and some of them are even FREE! All you need to know what to do and where to go. Here are some of my favorite tips and tricks.

Parking Meters:

Parking Downtown TucsonDowntown Tucson has all kinds of metered parking for $1/hour with a maximum time limit of 6 hours. It’s also free on nights and weekends. Plus they have this super neat cell phone app called Go Tucson. The app stores your payment information and notifies you when your time is almost up. It notifies you via a honking sound on your phone and gives you the option to extend your time with the push of a button!

Tip: If you are willing to park in residential neighborhood a few streets away from downtown you can find free street parking.

Parking Garages:

There are lots of garages downtown that are available by the hour, day or month. For a list of all the garages and detailed pricing you can check this city of Tucson Parking Garage website and if you only need to park less than an hour, some of them are free.

Free Lots:

Some of the local business’s have free lots that are for customers only. Maybe buy something in exchange for spot?

Or Don’t Deal with it

Other great options to avoid taking a car and parking all together are to take a Lyft, Taxi, or ride your bicycle.

Lyft:

Parking Downtown TucsonLyft is a ride-sharing company that connects drivers and riders. It is accessed by downloading the Lyft App on your smartphone. Taking an Lyft is a great way to avoid parking all together. It is cheaper and faster than most taxi services, plus you never know what interesting person you’ll meet since this service specializes in employing people who need to make extra cash in their spare time.

Taxi:

If you don’t have a smartphone, taking a taxi downtown is still a good option to avoid parking and driving all together.

Bike:

Tucson is one of the most bike friendly cities in the country and the city of Tucson puts a lot of effort into providing Tucson with bike friendly lanes.

Have a great day,
